What is a SEER rating?

SEER stands for Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio, and is the metric by which air conditioners are measured for energy efficiency.

Lennox air conditioners come in a variety of SEER ratings up to 26.00. A higher SEER rating does not necessarily mean that unit is ideal for your home. The size of your home, location of the air conditioner, and a number of other factors will determine which Lennox air conditioner is best for you.

We take great care to evaluate your unique situation to find an air conditioner that will help you reduce energy consumption and feel comfortable. We pride ourselves on always suggesting the right solution for our customers--we’ll never try to sell you something that isn’t right for your situation.

How long should a Lennox air conditioner last?

Lennox air conditioners are the highest quality units in the country and are backed by industry-leading warranties. You can expect your Lennox air conditioner to last an average of 20 to 25 years. With proper maintenance, your air conditioner can last even longer.

Should I replace my air conditioner, or fix my existing unit?

We recommend replacing your air conditioner if the cost to repair your old unit exceeds 25% of the cost of a new unit. Furthermore, if your air conditioner is at least 10 years old, it makes sense to upgrade to a new energy efficient air conditioner from Lennox. You could save hundreds of dollars on your energy bill, and you’ll enjoy the latest technology and smart home features.

Air Conditioner Maintenance

Spring is the ideal time to perform routine air conditioner maintenance and schedule an AC tune-up. Catching potential problems before the summer heat sets in will save you time, money, and eliminate the stress of feeling uncomfortable in your home. Here are a few signs that your air conditioner is in need of a tune-up:

Your air conditioner is making strange noises.

Air conditioners can make an array of unusual sounds, including knocking, hissing or rattling. If your air conditioner is making strange noises it’s possible that something has been knocked loose, or may even be leaking.

You notice odors coming from your air conditioner.

If you can smell your air conditioner something may be very wrong! Common odors include damp or moldy odors caused by clogs, leaks or wet filters. You may even smell smoke or a burning odor. This could be a short or other electrical problem in the HVAC unit. If you smell any of these odors, call us right away! We can safely evaluate and correct the problem with your air conditioner.

Poor air flow.

Dirty filters or clogged ducts are the primary causes of poor or low air flow. Try replacing your air filter. If you still notice reduced air flow, or your air conditioner struggles to reach your desired temperature, you may have a failing compressor.

If you notice any of these problems, it’s time to schedule an AC tune-up. Our expert technicians service all brands and models of HVAC units throughout Ozaukee and Washington counties. We’re available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to provide emergency service and advice. Call us at 262-677-3477.
